"The Christmas Issue"-2003
It's 3:50am past Christmas, past boxing day. It's back to normality til' new year's eve. Milky is playing in the background-"Just the way you are". Now I've just re-read my last blog and decided that yeah, I was right. But I've done nothing so far. And thinking up things like that is for people with too much time on their hands anyway. And, whatever. Christmas eve was better than I ever expected it to be. Christmas day was not THAT bad (though it would be by some standards)...and the whole 70's show experience is starting to sink in. On other news, Rachel(my car) is leaking engine oil and my dog (I'd like to call him Enzo but no one is giving me any green-light on the name) is currently in the vet fighting a viral er...virus which I hope he gets better from, because it's fatal; which is something I hope will not happen to him. I've grown to love him to bits (even though he thoroughly ripped my pants and attempted to bite me the other day) especially when I saw him this morning being very quiet and just sat there being very uncheery, I knew that something was wrong, though I'd like to think otherwise. He's too young to die. And I think I'd really really miss him. I think I'll call him Enzo if he does make it. He'd be the leader of the pack. The prancing horse. His story is not over yet. It's only begun. Well, to me anyway.
This has been a not very joyful year in the sense of things, and I'm just promising myself to make next year better. On the upside of things, Subaru are the 2003 WRC world champions with Petter Solberg, kudos to him for livening up the sport by swearing a lot in the car, and bagging the world rally championship while doing it. And cheers to the retired Tommi Makinen, you truly are rallying's living legend. Be it in the desert heat of the Safari, the tarmac of Monte Carlo or in the forests of Britain, whether dressed in Mitsubishi red or Subaru blue, you'll always be remembered as the one and only world champion of the last era(which in my opinion is truly the epitome of the sport with the unforgettable Celica GT-Four,the Lancia Delta Integrale, violent looking Lancers and Subarus and definitely the forgone but brilliant Corolla) and . Rallying will forever be changed. Speaking of which, WRC 2004 will not be including the mad charismatic Colin McRae, and Richard Burns. Hope to see you all in 05'. It ain't over yet.
