According to Plato, the island of Atlantis, which was larger than Lybia and Asia combined, was located beyond the Pillars of Heracles.Apparently the island of such magnitude and size would not fit the Mediterranean but would instead be in the Atlantic Ocean west and beyond the Pillars of Heracles. However, the ocean floor there is too deep and according to bathymetric measurements, there are no traces that such an island ever existed. The Atlanteans worshiped Poseidon and, of course, Cleito whose seed they believed they were from. Atlantis conveniently vanished Some 11,500 to 15,000 years ago, erasing all viable proof of it's existence making it more myth than fact. While most people would rather stick to the myth as it creates a sort of symbolism to their own personal daydreams of a fantasy island (so to speak), I would rather believe that Atlantis actually existed once, did find out the secrets to gravity (and thus anti-gravity) and ended up ascending to the stars above; gone forever. However, there is some viable truth to the theory that it was all flooded one day, as the ocean has indeed increased in depth and there is proof to this, but as of right now, Atlantis still remains to be found.
People in general would rather stick to the fantasy inspired version than the harsh reality of
overnight flooding, and i believe that this makes it harder to believe that such an island actually
existed at all.The perfect island that never existed. It's easier that way.
How about the perfect game? In video games history to date, there has never been a perfect video game.Until now.Although I never was affected by the advertising hype of it and was kind of turned off by it's complexity at the beginning; little did I know that it would unfold to become one of the most brilliant games, wait, no, THE most brilliant game I have ever played. Those that raved about Halo 2 and put MGS 3 aside are probable tugging at their hair right about now wondering why they didn't bother about this game. I would know. After 14 and a 1/2 hours of jungle based espionage and massively crazy boss fights, I have grown to be quite attached to the game. And be it so, because I don't seem to mind at all. Hell, I even cried when snake did in the end. It's that powerful. I'm still listening to the soundtrack five days on. It's still on my mind, and very much in my heart.
As epic as the overnight disappearence of Atlantis. But unlike Atlantis, this one is real and very much available to be purchased at your local game shop.
Don't just play it. Experience.
